About The Position

The Maintenance Technician I position is responsible for supporting production by minimizing equipment downtime and providing prompt response times. This role involves completing planned preventative maintenance and production equipment repairs, as well as troubleshooting and repairing issues with mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems. The position also includes performing minor tasks on electrical components and adhering to safety policies and Wabash’s Leadership Principles and Values. The role requires the ability to work on projects both individually and with a cross-functional team, and hours may vary based on the assigned shift. Other duties as needed or required may also be assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Basic reading, writing, & verbal skills.
  • Prior experience with Mechanical, Pneumatic, Hydraulic, and Electrical (24DC, 120/277/480AC) systems.
  • Methodical problem solving to identify root cause of breakdowns.
  • Ability to work on projects both individually and cross functionally.
  • Must be capable of rapidly responding, adapting to changing and nonstandard situations, while remaining thorough and safety conscious during entire process.
  • Must have good mechanical aptitude, knowledge of tools (power and hand), ability to make detailed measurements using instruments, including but not limited to, tape measures, micrometers, and dial calipers.
  • Excellent Communication skills are required.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, lean, push, climb, sit, bend, kneel, stoop, handle and operate tools or controls for the length of their entire shift.
  • Full range of motion in their arms and hands.
  • Must be able to successfully communicate with fellow employees.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus, along with good hand-eye coordination.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using SAP and SAP PM (Plant Maintenance) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of ladder logic preferred.
  • Knowledge of 480-volt AC/DC motor controls preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support production by minimizing equipment downtime, providing prompt response times.

  • Perform minor tasks on electrical components such as sensors, fuses, breakers, etc.
  • Follow safety policies and practices while maintaining Wabash’s Leadership Principles and Values.
  • Work on projects both individually and with a cross-functional team.
  • Perform other duties as needed or required.
