About The Position

Shaw Industries is seeking a Maintenance Tech C for its distribution facility in Ringgold, Georgia. The role is on a non-rotating second shift, Monday through Friday, from 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM. The primary objective is to maintain and repair assigned equipment and participate in root cause analysis of machinery failures. The technician helps identify corrective actions and implement solutions to prevent recurring issues, supporting machinery reliability, efficiency, and reduced downtime. The role involves applying mechanical maintenance knowledge across lubrication, measurement, mechanical print reading, power transmission, bearings, hydraulics, piping and plumbing, pumps, and pneumatics. It also includes general maintenance, accurate CMMS documentation, safety and housekeeping, training support, and completing relevant DOS Tool activities. The position may involve operating powered industrial trucks or aerial lifts.

Requirements

Follow plant-specific lubrication practices, including proper storage, contamination prevention, oil sample collection, and selection and application of greases and oils.
Convert measurements between fractions and decimals and between standard and metric units.
Use digital calipers to measure components precisely to 0.001 inch.
Identify parts in exploded mechanical views and provide accurate dimensioned sketches.
Select and install components for belt and chain drive systems; troubleshoot wear and misalignment and perform shaft alignment.
Measure shaft diameters, select appropriate bearings, and use proper bearing installation and removal techniques.
Check and change hydraulic fluids and filters, diagnose faults, and replace faulty hydraulic components.
Install rotary unions, modify piping systems, and identify and repair plumbing faults.
Check and replace pneumatic system components, including filters and control valves.
Use hand and power tools, including grinders, chisels, and torque wrenches, and create threads with tap and die sets.
Use systematic troubleshooting methods to identify root causes of mechanical system failures.
Participate in identifying root causes of gaps and opportunities and in implementing effective solutions to prevent recurrence.
Have basic math skills.
Be able to walk up and down stairs and sit, stand, or walk for most of the shift.
Lift, push, pull, and carry loads up to 50 pounds without assistance.
Bend, stoop, squat, grasp, reach overhead, and operate hand and power tools.
Work comfortably in elevated environments, including on ladders and lifts, for extended periods.

Provide training to fellow technicians as needed.
Complete DOS Tool activities relevant to the current pay level and higher levels as required.
Learn to operate Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT); operate an aerial lift if required.
