This role involves supervising and coordinating the work activities of the Controls shop staff, maintaining Building Automation Systems (BAS), and troubleshooting related issues. The position requires planning and accomplishing goals, performing complex tasks, and exercising creativity and leadership. Responsibilities include monitoring staff performance, compiling records, counseling employees, and recommending personnel actions. The role also involves acting as a Controls Network Administrator, performing integration of controllers and communication protocols, troubleshooting BAS server and application issues, maintaining HVAC equipment for energy savings, managing remote alarms, reviewing new construction projects, maintaining documentation, administering BAS users, and backing up system databases. Additionally, the position requires writing and maintaining control sequences and drawings, responding to BAS alarms and work orders, and examining BAS objects to determine needed installations or repairs. The supervisor will use field knowledge and tools to install, operate, maintain, repair, calibrate, commission, troubleshoot, and program pneumatic and digital building automation and control system controllers. This includes providing field support, ensuring quality and productivity, formulating mathematical models, providing cost estimates, monitoring network upgrades, overseeing remote research sites, meeting with vendors, and operating UF vehicles.
