About The Position

Stimson Lumber Company is seeking a motivated Maintenance Supervisor to lead the maintenance program at our St. Maries, Idaho facility. With over 160 years in the forest products industry, Stimson is built on safety, reliability, and doing things right the first time. In this role, you’ll lead a skilled team of Millwrights, Electricians, Mechanics, PM Technicians, and support staff while driving preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance efforts. You’ll be a key member of the Mill leadership team, partnering across departments to support safe, efficient, and reliable operations.

  • Highly organized with strong skills in prioritization, planning, and scheduling.
  • Demonstrated success leading preventive maintenance and TPM efforts in partnership with Operations.
  • Solid business acumen, including managing maintenance budgets, controlling labor and overtime, managing expenses, and maintaining accurate spare parts inventories.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels, including daily crew communication around safety, quality, and job expectations, and ongoing collaboration with operational leaders.
  • Experience using CMMS systems, AutoCAD, and standard business software (Microsoft Suite); ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of maintenance supervisory experience with strong preventive, predictive, and proactive maintenance background.
  • High School diploma required.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all maintenance work is performed safely and in compliance with company safety standards.
  • Lead and oversee preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance planning, scheduling, and execution.
  • Supervise and support Millwrights, Electricians, Mechanics, PM Technicians, PLC Technicians, and Maintenance Support staff in daily operations, including scheduled PMs and urgent or emergency repairs.
  • Develop and strengthen your team through training, mentoring, and workforce planning; partner with Mill leadership to ensure bench strength, apprenticeships, and succession planning.
  • Actively participate as a member of the Mill leadership team, collaborating across departments and supporting safety initiatives, special projects, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Lead approved improvement and capital projects, including research, cost analysis, financial justification, equipment specification, installation planning, and follow-through to ensure desired results are achieved.
  • Partner with vendors and suppliers to maximize service levels, reliability, and value to the company.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and improve key maintenance performance indicators, including: Safety compliance Preventive maintenance completion Downtime management Overtime management and workforce planning Expense and cost controls Mill cleanliness and organization
