About The Position

Support the agency mission by providing hope and healing to those impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, and child maltreatment. This role involves performing preventive building maintenance, managing the maintenance department, negotiating vendor contracts, ensuring facility cleanliness and safety, and preparing units for new clients. The position also includes routine plumbing and electrical repairs, furniture assembly, grounds maintenance, and basic appliance repairs. The Maintenance Supervisor will participate in staff meetings, trainings, and development activities, and must be available for on-call emergency maintenance needs and inclement weather preparations. Additionally, the role requires maintaining accurate records, managing supply inventory, adhering to agency procedures for documentation and quality assurance, verifying timesheets, and responding to emails. The position also involves supporting the agency mission through participation in meetings and committees, promoting professional relationships, and engaging in continual professional development to maintain skills and knowledge.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or Equivalent Experience
  • Certification: HVAC, CMT, CMM or equivalent
  • 10 years of commercial building maintenance experience
  • 3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Ability to work with those that have or are being victimized.
  • Ability to work a rotating on call/after hour schedule for emergency maintenance needs.
  • Employee must have valid drivers license and access to transportation that allows them to meet all job requirements in a timely fashion.
  • Position may require staff to work outside of the typical work hours as the agency provides services 24/7.
  • Willing to submit proof of vaccination or submit testing results weekly or as outlined by the agency.
  • Proof of vaccination status must be provided at hiring and/or upon request by the agency.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive building maintenance duties including but not limited to painting, wall repairs, installation of approved equipment, minor carpentry and general maintenance.
  • Hire, Train and supervise employees of the maintenance department
  • Assist with negotiating contracts with vendors for execution of maintenance work.
  • Ensure the shelter premises and facilities are kept in clean and hygienic conditions.
  • Implement workspace safety policies and standards.
  • Turn units in a timely manner, so they are "made ready" for new clients to move in.
  • Perform routine plumbing activities including but not limited to replace/repair toilets and faucets.
  • Perform routine electrical repairs including but not limited to changing light bulbs, fluorescent lamps, ballast, receptacles, switches, fixtures, batteries and troubleshooting.
  • Assemble and move furniture, hang pictures and bulletin boards.
  • Maintain grounds and common areas, including lawns, flowerbeds, shrubbery and parking area.
  • Perform basic appliance repairs and preventive maintenance.
  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings and development activities as directed.
  • Ability to work a rotating on call/after hour schedule for emergency maintenance needs.
  • Prepare building during inclement weather.
  • Maintain accurate records
  • Maintain up to date inventory of needed maintenance supplies for shelter operations
  • Adhere to agency procedures concerning Documentation, Critical Incident Reports and Client Satisfaction surveys and participate in the Quality Assurance process
  • Verify accuracy of timesheets and make any needed changes prior to submitting them for approval
  • Read and respond to emails accordingly
  • Support agency mission by participating in agency meetings and committees as requested by supervisor
  • Promotes and maintains professional relationships with agency staff, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Maintain and develop skills and knowledge by attending training and ensure licensure and certifications are up to date as needed for the job.
  • Perform other agency duties as assigned by supervisor
