The Maintenance Supervisor oversees maintenance operations and technician workflow in a 24/7 transit operation. The position assigns and adjusts work throughout a shift, ensures maintenance work meets manufacturer, regulatory, and company requirements, and coordinates shift handoffs. The supervisor also works with vendors performing warranty and contract work, reviews work orders, conducts quality assurance inspections, and handles technician counseling and discipline. Job duties or the specific title may vary; where a collective bargaining agreement applies, its provisions may prevail. The role requires at least two years of supervisory experience in vehicle maintenance repair, preferably involving transit buses. Candidates should be computer literate, able to perform maintenance quality-control audits and inspections, and flexible to work in a 24/7 operation. A Class A or B CDL is desired. Employment is contingent on applicable background checks; safety-sensitive positions also require passing a pre-employment drug screen and physical examination. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available. The work may involve extended periods of walking, standing, sitting, bending, pushing, pulling, climbing, lifting, balancing, stooping, twisting, squatting, handling materials, repetitive hand-wrist motions, and traversing uneven surfaces. Maintenance employees may work in a ventilated maintenance shop and be exposed to extreme heat and cold, loud noises, fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. Work may also involve computers, electronic devices, electrical schematics, diagnostic software, testing devices, and heavy machinery. Reasonable accommodation may be requested to perform essential functions.
