About The Position

UniFirst is seeking a reliable and hardworking Maintenance Supervisor to ensure facility equipment functions efficiently and identify opportunities to improve processes, procedures, maintenance practices, and ongoing training for maintenance staff. The role is responsible for maintenance activities across all shifts, including preventive maintenance, equipment repairs, safety, regulatory and environmental compliance, and technician development. The position follows a standard Monday–Friday work week, with periodic night and weekend overtime. On-the-job training is provided.

Requirements

• At least 21 years of age.
• Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
• Must pass UniFirst’s maintenance knowledge assessment to be eligible for employment.
• Knowledge of maintenance equipment, including wiring, electrical and mechanical systems, electronic components, pipe systems, and plumbing.
• At least 3 years of experience repairing industrial processing equipment in a production environment; applicable military experience will be considered.
• Maintenance administration experience, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, negotiating, parts management, vendor management, and maintenance management systems.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
• Ability to read and understand maintenance literature printed in English.
• Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Experience with hand and power tools.
• Lockout/tagout experience.
• Ability to work overtime as needed.
• Ability to lift up to 80 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma and/or GED preferred.
• Two-year technical degree in an appropriate background preferred.
• At least 2 years of experience supervising maintenance personnel preferred.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems and determine corrective actions using blueprints, schematics, repair manuals, and parts catalogs.
• Inspect, operate, and test machinery and equipment to diagnose malfunctions.
• Perform basic welding to repair facilities and equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and associated control systems.
• Perform and assign preventive maintenance on facility and production assets.
• Follow blueprints, schematics, operations manuals, manufacturer instructions, and engineering specifications according to a documented schedule.
• Test boiler chemicals and wastewater pretreatment systems, record results in logbooks or computer systems, and make necessary chemical adjustments.
• Manage and assign equipment maintenance, including repairs that cannot be completed during standard hours.
• Assume responsibility for all shifts in the maintenance department.
• Oversee and implement maintenance-related regulatory and environmental compliance requirements.
• Assume responsibility for maintenance department safety.
• Perform confined space and lockout/tagout procedures when appropriate.
• Monitor technicians’ training status and provide time for required training.
• Use a computerized maintenance management system.
• Partner with the Production Manager to develop, manage, and maintain budgets for buildings, equipment, capital expenditures, and parts and labor.
• Train and develop maintenance partners.
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
