About The Position

Perform various maintenance tasks involving production and associated support equipment, office, and plant facilities. This role involves developing training documents, assisting with equipment set-ups and changeovers, training and directing maintenance personnel, assigning planned maintenance tasks, maintaining the work order system, qualifying suppliers, managing inventory of machine parts, collaborating with other departments, installing and repairing equipment, troubleshooting malfunctions, developing and maintaining a preventive maintenance program, generating reports on departmental KPIs, directing maintenance staff activities, assisting in equipment design and modification, developing action plans for facility operations, providing coaching and feedback to staff, and enforcing safety policies. Additional responsibilities include basic building maintenance, purchasing replacement parts with approval, and undertaking special projects.

Requirements

  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • High School or Vocational School Diploma
  • Must be able to set up and proficiently use common shop metal and woodworking tools and equipment.
  • Self-motivated, work independently.
  • Strong leadership, communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills
  • Computer literate or trainable.
  • Metal, acrylic, and wood fabrication
  • Able to work overtime and Saturdays.

Nice To Haves

  • Trade school certification a plus.
  • PLC and electrical experience are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop training documents for maintenance personnel on maintenance and production equipment.
  • Assist production set-up and supervisors in ensuring timely and efficient equipment set-ups, changeovers, and start-ups to minimize production delays.
  • Train, coach, and provide day-to-day direction to maintenance personnel, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards.
  • Assign planned maintenance tasks to various maintenance personnel, including oneself.
  • Maintain Work order system and work with other department supervisors to determine future work.
  • Qualify and work with suppliers and departmental managers to ensure proper installation, maintenance, and the general function of all equipment and the Facility.
  • Develops and Maintains inventory of machine parts and orders replacements as needed.
  • Work with other departments to help solve problems and promote cooperation supporting Kaufman Container's objectives.
  • Actively assist in installing, repairing, and overhauling production, support, and shop equipment.
  • Assists with troubleshooting equipment malfunctions.
  • Develops and maintains a functional preventive maintenance program, utilizing industry standards; oversees all facets of the program.
  • Develops and maintains reports related to KPIs for the department, including department spend, worked hours, downtime tracking, PM compliance, LDM board and 5S compliance.
  • Direct and coordinate activities of maintenance staff.
  • Actively assist in designing, constructing, and modifying equipment and tooling to improve safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Develop action plans to ensure that the facility is fully operational and functioning properly.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and feedback to maintenance personnel and communicate employee performance, training needs, and development opportunities to the Operations Manager.
  • Promote and enforce compliance with all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and safe work practices.
  • Assist with maintenance staff scheduling, overtime coordination, and vacation coverage planning.
  • Basic building maintenance.
  • Purchase replacement parts for machines and workshop, if necessary, with the approval of the Operations Manager.
  • Special projects as assigned.
