About The Position

Turner Mining Group is seeking a dynamic and talented Equipment Superintendent for their fast-growing, forward-thinking mining services company. This position will report directly to the Regional Equipment Manager. The role involves ensuring the safety performance of the Maintenance Department, deploying key initiatives, and promoting safety and environmental policies. A significant portion of the role requires field presence for visible leadership and interaction with the workforce. The Superintendent is responsible for providing a safe and healthy work environment, developing systems to meet monthly targets, managing contractor costs, and contributing to maintenance strategy objectives. Effective application of maintenance resources, including schedule and PM compliance, backlog management, and participation in incident investigations, are key aspects of this role. The Superintendent will also ensure employees and contractors are qualified, support maintenance strategies for critical assets, schedule maintenance activities effectively, and manage direct reports' performance, career development, recruitment, and succession planning.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 years Maintenance General Foreman level or higher experience in heavy industry
  • Minimum 2+ years management of the maintenance scheduling and work flow function.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing or supervising an equipment department
  • 5 years’ experience in managing maintenance.
  • Exposure to Project Management tools and techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Safety performance of the Maintenance Department.
  • Ensure deployment of key initiatives and communication of relevant messages to all maintenance crews at site.
  • Effectively promote, deploy, and comply with all Safety & Health and Environmental policies, standards, procedures and regulations across Ledcor and Maintenance.
  • Spend significant time in the field – “visible felt leadership” – interacting with the workforce, ~40 - 60% of working time.
  • Provide employees with a safe and healthy work environment by ensuring provision of safe systems of work; safe work procedures; adequate training and instruction; competent supervision.
  • Develop systems and foster the required collaboration to ensure the department meets monthly targets.
  • Review competencies, Scopes of Work and Schedules of Rates for all Contractors ensuring costs are managed and controlled while complying with Contractor Controls Policies and Procedures.
  • Help develop maintenance strategy objectives and ensure they are met.
  • Ensure effective and efficient application of maintenance resources as measured by schedule compliance, PM compliance, level of planned vs. unplanned work and the ongoing management of backlog.
  • Review hazard identification, near miss and incident reports and provide follow-up as appropriate.
  • Participate in incident investigations (injury, high-potential and equipment damage) as required ensure that corrective actions are effectively implemented and tracked.
  • Ensure maintenance employees and contractors working within the Group are prequalified and have the necessary commencement paperwork, competencies and qualifications to work safely and deliver quality maintenance services (has the authority to prohibit any work from being undertaken unless all requirements are met).
  • Support the development and ongoing optimization of maintenance strategies for the critical assets.
  • Ensure that all maintenance activities are scheduled effectively, utilizing business processes and supporting systems.
  • Complete performance evaluation reviews for direct reports and manage their career development.
  • Recruit for Maintenance positions.
  • Ensure that succession planning for key roles is in place.
  • Ensure training is provided as required.
