The Superintendent of Maintenance and Engineering is responsible for overseeing and directing a staff of Maintenance Engineers, Supervisors, and contractors involved with the installation, maintenance, and repair of plant equipment and facilities. This role also manages all Environmental reporting for the facility and assists with managing maintenance costs. The position oversees a 700,000 square foot food processing facility operating 24/7, with thousands of complex machines and automated systems. The Superintendent ensures State and Federal regulatory compliance in health & safety, environmental standards, and plant equipment operations. They direct electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration maintenance functions, collaborating with the Manager of Plant Engineering to ensure an effective maintenance team across all operations. The role focuses on improving reliability and safety, minimizing machinery downtime, optimizing maintenance and operating efficiencies, and managing costs. They also work with engineering firms and contractors on capital projects and automation, focus on team development and training, and assist in managing the budget for maintenance, repairs, and capital expenses. Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration systems is required, along with enforcing safe working practices and assisting with major equipment installations.
