About The Position

This position is responsible for maintaining district plumbing systems, steam and hydronics systems, shop facilities, and pump repairs. The role involves responding to service calls, assisting with repairs of plumbing, hydronics, and HVAC devices, and troubleshooting equipment failures. The Maintenance Specialist will also maintain truck inventory and department tools, and perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years of varied experience in plumbing, hydronics, HVAC and/or building maintenance repair.
  • Valid Class D Minnesota Driver's License.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment failures.
  • Ability to understand and observe oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to read, understand and follow architectural, electrical, mechanical, and schematic drawings.
  • Working knowledge of computers and computer programs used in the assigned area.
  • Ability to maintain records and prepare reports.
  • Motivated self-starter; well-organized and efficient; ability to work with minimum supervision and direction.
  • Ability to maintain regular attendance, which includes completing an assigned day.
  • Ability to perform position responsibilities, including physical factors, work devices and materials handling, data functions, and people functions.
  • Must be physically working in the building/on site.

Nice To Haves

  • Master Plumber or Journeyman plumber or Pipe Fitter License
  • RPZ Certification
  • Universal Refrigeration Certification
  • Boilers License.
  • Ability to read electrical plans and wiring schematics
  • Interact and communicate with contractors and the public
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment or circuits down to the defective components using testing equipment
  • Read and interpret resource manuals and construction plans/specs
  • Ability to work from schematics, blueprints, and other plans as well as update plans
  • Knowledge of construction industries and of acceptable standards and techniques, including knowledge of industry standards for construction and HVAC projects
  • Knowledge of State of Minnesota Boiler Standards

Responsibilities

  • Respond to service calls as assigned.
  • Assist building staff, other maintenance staff, and vendors with repairs of all types of plumbing and hydronics and HVAC devices and/or equipment.
  • Troubleshoot hydronics/HVAC equipment failures.
  • Maintain truck inventory and department tools.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager, Supervisor, Lead, Director of Buildings & Grounds, or designee.
