About The Position

This position works semi-independently to construct, troubleshoot, repair and maintain State facilities within the guidelines of current State statutes and codes in the most efficient and economical manner possible. Under general direction of the Building Maintenance Foreman, this position installs, maintains, and repairs HVAC and electrical systems and components. Performs preventive maintenance and repairs on all building and airport building systems and components to protect the safety and health of the facility users and maintain the condition of the property. Maintenance and repair of the heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems is a major life-safety specialty of the building maintenance trade. Analyzes system performance and recommends improvement areas to the Foreman.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of electrical equipment, components, instruments, and systems, including their design, installation, testing, uses, repair, or maintenance.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, installations, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and appropriate tools to apply paint and other protective coating materials on drywall, wood, metal, glass, and other surfaces.
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and the appropriate tools to install, maintain, or repair pipelines, pipe systems, and fixtures, including water, air, steam, gas chemicals, or sewage.
  • Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgement to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
  • Valid Alaska Driver's License (Desired but not required).
  • 1st aid/CPR certification.
