About The Position

Are you eager to take on projects that keep buildings, equipment, and grounds in good working order? As a Maintenance Repairman 2 with the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA), you will use your skills across many trades to support facility operations. This position gives you the chance to tackle meaningful tasks that improve safety and efficiency. Your work will help ensure that Fort Indiantown Gap remains well maintained and ready for daily use.

Requirements

• Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.
• Must be in possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
• Must maintain favorable National Crime Information Center (NCIC) screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.
• Must be able to perform essential job functions.

Nice To Haves

• Any formal training (high school vocational program, apprenticeship, or post-high school technical training program) in a skilled building, electrical, or mechanical trade
• Experience in commercial maintenance of buildings and equipment
• Experience in commercial carpentry
• Experience in the plumbing trade
• Experience working in the electrical trade field
• Experience in the maintenance and repair of refrigeration or HVAC systems
• Experience with 3-phase wiring, including emergency generators, automatic transfer switches, switchgear, and 3-phase panels
• Experience with domestic hot water mixing valves, recirculating loops, aquastats, and instantaneous water heaters
• Experience with the provisions of Life Safety Codes and Uniform Construction Code (UCC), as they relate to repair of buildings
• Structural experience in the maintenance or repair of buildings

Responsibilities

• Install ceilings, walls, flooring, and fixtures, and repair damage to building structures
• Repair sinks, faucets, pipes, drains, and fixtures in various areas
• Prepare surfaces, mix paint, and complete interior and exterior painting
• Replace switches, receptacles, ballasts, and wiring as needed
• Cut grass, remove snow, trim shrubs, and keep outside areas clean
• Maintain tools and equipment through cleaning, adjusting, and preventive care
