About The Position

Repairs and maintains plant equipment, vacuum furnaces, rolling mills, and all related equipment. This role involves receiving instructions, prints, sketches, and work orders to perform repairs and maintenance on a variety of machinery and systems. Responsibilities include working with rolling mills and their components, hydraulic systems, cutoff machines, air tools, presses, bar straighteners, grinders, exhaust fans, dust collectors, furnaces, ovens, cranes, hoists, plant utilities, and more. The role also involves fabricating fixtures, performing simple electrical repairs, working at various heights, repairing plumbing systems, installing and relocating equipment, and determining material and tool requirements for jobs.

Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to push/pull 20 lbs.
  • Must be able to bend and squat at least 10 times per hour.
  • Must be able to climb stairs, ladders and work from elevated platforms.
  • Exposure to high heat areas.

Responsibilities

  • Repairs and maintains plant equipment, vacuum furnaces, and rolling mills.
  • Repairs and maintains rolling mills and their component parts, including the repair of the rolling mill furnace (rebricking, cleaning, and adjusting gas nozzles).
  • Repairs and maintains hydraulic systems, cutoff machines, air tools, presses, bar straighteners, centerless grinders, exhaust fans and dust collectors, grinding jacks, electric and gas furnaces and ovens, high capacity cranes and electric and air hoists, plant utilities, air compressors, gas heaters, hot water heaters, Beardsley traveling grinders, and grit blasters.
  • Fabricates fixtures for mills and plant equipment working from prints and sketches, using various measuring instruments, arc welding equipment, power and hand tools.
  • Repairs and maintains simple electrical systems, such as changing bearings and brushes on motors, wiring for 110-220-440 volts, and changing fuses.
  • Repairs located at various heights.
  • Repairs and maintains various types of plumbing systems.
  • Installs new equipment and relocates present equipment.
  • Checks job and determine material and tools required.
  • Repairs and maintains exhaust equipment.
