About The Position

Under the supervision of the Maintenance and Repair Foreman, the Maintenance & Repair - Plumber Crew Leader will be responsible for planning work and supervising workmen assigned in the absence of the Foreman. This role involves maintaining and repairing facilities that require plumbing, electrical, or other specialties, performing repair and installation of plumbing, electrical equipment, building foundations, and other construction. The position also includes preparing cost estimates, keeping accurate records of labor and materials, maintaining a clean and safe work area, requisitioning supplies, and adhering to all safety procedures and the Park District's safety program.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma required.
  • Two years experience in construction or maintenance repair work.
  • Work experience with plumbing, irrigation, and electrical systems is required.
  • Must maintain a valid Illinois Department of Health State Plumbing License.
  • Basic knowledge of maintenance repairs.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Aptitude for on-the-job training.
  • Ability to work effectively with Park District personnel.
  • Must maintain a valid Illinois state Driver's License.
  • Ability to be professional, respectful, accountable, innovative, to follow safety procedures, and be equitable to both internal and external customers.
  • Personal – Work record that shows reliability, initiative, creativity, tact, and resourcefulness.

Responsibilities

  • In the absence of the Foreman, the Plumber Crew Leader is to be in charge of planning work and supervising workmen assigned.
  • Maintain and repair facilities that require plumbing, electrical, or other specialties as directed.
  • Perform the repair and installation of plumbing, electrical equipment, building foundations, and other construction.
  • Prepare estimates of material and labor costs as directed.
  • Supervise and perform the repair and installation of plumbing systems, equipment, and fixtures.
  • Keep accurate records of all labor and materials costs of work performed.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and safety of the work area and assigned vehicle.
  • Requisition supplies and equipment as required.
  • Follow all safety procedures that pertain to the duties performed.
  • Support all aspects of the Park District's safety program.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
