Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in engineering.
  • 8 years experience as a maintenance or reliability engineer operating within a chemical plant.
  • 3+ years of demonstrated leadership experience as a Champion for change.
  • Experience with applicable building codes with a NFPA-NEC, API, or ASME certification.
  • Proven track record of project management experience, and leading cross-functional project management groups.
  • Ability to be organized, problem solve, and be solution orientated.
  • Detailed knowledge of maintenance work process (planning, scheduling, logistics, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the development and implementation of a comprehensive Maintenance / Reliability Strategy including functional goals and a financial plan by using the full breadth of maintenance and reliability work processes, best practices, tools, and effective leveraging of resources.
  • Responsible to meet EH&S and Compliance (Mechanical Integrity) requirements.
  • Serves as the Maintenance Work Process / discipline owner and administrative resource leader.
  • The Maintenance Leader is responsible for safety, reliability and cost management.
  • Responsible for work process utilization, enhancement of the process/operating discipline, defining skills necessary for the work process and tracking / analyzing work process results.
  • Functions as the administrative leader of all maintenance resources within an organization
  • Acts as the Maintenance Process owner and is responsible for process execution, improvement, sustainability, and results.
  • Provides roles, competencies and experience necessary to support process elements for maintenance with organizational integration to Reliability Operations, EH&S, , etc.
  • Creates a culture that everyone has a role in reliability and maintenance improvement
  • Accountable for the safety, productivity, quality and overall effectiveness of the maintenance workforce.
  • Sets maintenance employee expectations aligned with site and department goals, objectives, and targeted behaviors.
  • Coordinates/sponsors the formation of teams for timely resource leveraging to support significant opportunities
  • Promotes the leveraging of MET through partnership with Reliability aligned with the Business and appropriate functions.
  • Ensure compliance with the Management of Change process.
  • Accountable for measuring the performance of individuals against the expectations of the work processes and the targeted results.
  • Ensures delivery of service agreements as required.
  • Actively participates in Maintenance Leadership teams within the business or Site
  • Establish an annual and 3-year maintenance budget plan consistent with the maintenance / reliability strategy and objectives including the next two turnaround cycles for investment.
  • Lead the maintenance function to achieve maintenance cost and asset availability goals through opportunity identification and leveraging of standard solutions.
  • Ensures effective resource leveraging
  • Ensure full integration of work processes that have maintenance involvement
  • Executes the performance management system including Competency Profiles, Employee Development, Deployment, Compensation
  • Develops maintenance engineers and technologists for future roles in projects, technical skills and leadership
  • Ensures that the department has an established training matrix e.g.,Safety Training, Work Process Training, Craft Training, etc.
  • Supports the selection and optimization of Contractors and Contract Services.
  • Ensures that the site establishes and executes an effective multi-year TAR plan and schedule that defines distinct outcomes and activities, including scope management and freeze, allowance for discovery, cost control, and steering oversight.
  • Ensures Performance metrics are used to improve maintenance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ensures an effective succession plan is in place for key roles.
  • Accountable for application of the Reliability Work Process and the integration with other work processes and disciplines.
  • Removes barriers and drives their implementation.
  • Owns and manages the site 3-year Reliability Improvement Plan and 5- year asset plan.
  • Drives objective setting, plan development, and performance review of plant performance.
  • Initiates, implements, and manages the plant Reliability program based on best practices in the industry, including Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), criticality, risk, facility strategies, equipment strategies, Preventative Maintenance (PM), Predictive Maintenance (PdM), Root Cause Analysis, and Life Cycle Analysis (LCA).
  • Prepares reports, analyzes data, and makes recommendations for improving plant operations and solving maintenance-related problems.
  • Responsible for tracking and analyzing Reliability metrics / data (e.g. asset utilization, PM compliance, PPM data, etc.) and updating strategies based on results.
  • Ensures Maintenance and Reliability principles are integrated into new projects.
  • Analyzes production loss accounting and cost data to develop and prioritize a list of Reliability opportunities.
  • Champions use of Management of Change (MOC) process for changes, modifications, deletions to equipment, materials, parts, and related Operating Discipline.
  • Ensures application of Reliability tools and Most Effective Technology (MET).
  • Serves as Champion for the overall mechanical integrity for the site.
