About The Position

The Maintenance Planner is responsible for scheduling all plant machinery repair and maintenance of equipment and facilities. This role involves assessing work assignment priorities, assisting R&D personnel in project development, and generating ideas to improve machine efficiency and reduce costs. The planner will also collect project costs, shop for the best pricing, and assign project work to other department personnel. Additionally, they will maintain parts inventory, work with outside vendors and contractors to ensure compliance with company guidelines, and follow plant safety and housekeeping guidelines. The role includes maintaining training records for the maintenance department, preparing documentation for audits (SQF, Safety, IDEM, FM Global), attending safety steering committee meetings, and maintaining various records and reports such as preventive maintenance, weekly reports for the plant manager, Bowler charts, downtime, BDA failures, expense reports, mold gaps, and weekly rail measurements. The planner will also maintain and assist in training and record-keeping for Lock out/Tag out procedures.

Requirements

  • Meets all qualifications for Maintenance Specialist.
  • 2 years of trade school or a minimum of five years direct manufacturing experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • May require basic auto-cad experience.
  • Must be able to use precision measuring devices, such as micrometer, calipers and squares.
  • Must have a significant understanding of production equipment, process function and support equipment.
  • Thorough knowledge of facility and facility equipment required.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and legibly complete time cards and work orders.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and read blueprints and technical drawings, such as machine, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small groups situations to other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to effective present information and respond to questions form groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variable in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
  • OSHA approved forklift certification.
  • Scissor/Platform lift certified/trained.
  • CPR/First Aid certified upon hire.
