About The Position

The Maintenance Planner ensures equipment reliability and reduces downtime by effectively planning maintenance work with Quikrete Heavy Construction Materials. This role involves contributing to Root Cause Analyses (RCAs) for safety incidents, ensuring contractor adherence to safe work practices, and developing detailed task plans within work orders. The planner will determine manpower needs, estimate task durations, and assess equipment downtime requirements. Field visits will be conducted to validate work requests against plant conditions. A significant portion of the role (approximately 70%) will be dedicated to work order management within the system, while 30% will be for on-site validation. The planner is responsible for assessing and addressing resource availability (materials, tools, manpower), supporting the development of weekly and outage schedules, and assisting the Maintenance Manager with monthly budget tracking and performance reporting. Monitoring critical spare parts, communicating with Purchasing to track orders, and providing feedback for maintenance plan updates are also key responsibilities. The goal is to achieve target compliance for monthly KPIs related to planning and scheduling effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Must be able to pass pre-employment screening which may include a physical, background check, and drug screen
  • Mechanical engineering experience preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in cement manufacturing or related industry as maintenance Inspector or Maintenance Planner

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to Root Cause Analyses (RCAs) for safety incidents (accidents/near misses)
  • Ensure contractor understanding, implementation, and consistent adherence to safe work rules and practices
  • Develop detailed, step-by-step task plans within work orders to clearly define the sequence of maintenance activities.
  • Determine the required manpower (number of personnel) and estimated duration for each task, including equipment downtime requirements.
  • Conduct field visits to review and validate the necessity, feasibility, and alignment of work requests with current plant conditions.
  • Assess the availability of all required resources (materials, tools, manpower) and proactively address any shortages.
  • Provide support to Maintenance Coordinators in the development of weekly and outage schedules and maintenance programs.
  • Support the Maintenance Manager in monthly budget tracking, performance reporting to the team, and the implementation of corrective actions for any deviations.
  • Monitor the availability of defined critical spare parts according to criticality studies
  • Maintain daily communication with the Purchasing department to track the progress of parts and supplies and prioritize critical orders.
  • Provide feedback to the Reliability Coordinator regarding planning requirements for updating maintenance plans.
  • Achieve target compliance for monthly KPIs related to planning and scheduling effectiveness.
