About The Position

The Maintenance Planner is responsible for developing, coordinating, and optimizing preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all plant equipment. This role supports both maintenance and production teams by creating detailed job plans, managing work orders, coordinating labor with union craft personnel, and ensuring compliance with collective bargaining agreements, safety standards, and operational goals.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with CMMS software
  • Sufficient using a computer and Microsoft applications
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings as needed

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree preferred.
  • Prior experience in mechanical repair, electrical or millwright roles preferred

Responsibilities

  • Review, prioritize, and scope incoming work orders; ensure clarity, accuracy, and proper coding for maintenance execution.
  • Develop and maintain PM schedules, task lists, and frequencies based on OEM recommendations, historical data, and reliability principles.
  • Plan work in alignment with craft classifications, seniority rules, shift structures, and other CBA requirements.
  • Full responsibility for managing and administering the MaintainX CMMS platform.
  • Create detailed job packages including labor hours, parts lists, safety procedures, permits, drawings, and step‑by‑step instructions.
  • Identify required parts, verify availability, and coordinate with storeroom personnel to stage materials.
  • Collaborate with maintenance supervisors, production leaders, and union crafts to build weekly and daily schedules.
  • Maintain accurate asset histories, failure codes, and documentation within the CMMS.
  • Ensure all job plans include lockout/tagout steps, PPE requirements, and regulatory compliance.
  • Analyze maintenance data to identify recurring issues, improve PM tasks, and support reliability initiatives.
  • Assist with coordinating with outside contractors for inspections, repairs and troubleshooting.
  • Assist with research and acquisition of replacement parts, upgrades or repairs as well as in house management of the tool crib.
