About The Position

The Maintenance Planner is responsible for planning daily maintenance duties, analyzing work requests, developing work order-based job plans, and managing the work order backlog. This role involves prioritizing corrective and project work orders, identifying necessary materials and tools, and estimating costs. The planner compiles equipment information into job packages for technicians, ensuring clear communication of critical steps. Additionally, the position oversees the Preventative Maintenance (PM) and Predictive Maintenance (PdM) programs, supports equipment reliability and mechanical integrity, and tracks metrics to improve maintenance performance. The role also includes managing and replenishing parts inventory, ordering, receiving, and stocking machine parts, performing cycle counts, and monitoring consumable supplies and recyclables. Reviewing parts and service proposals for cost-effectiveness is also a key responsibility.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English Language
  • Strong computer skills - maintenance and inventory software and Microsoft products such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to use Enterprise Software for planning and purchasing, SAP preferable
  • Ability to complete root cause analysis failure reports with cooperation of department teams
  • Adaptable and dependable with ability to follow direction and work in cooperation with others
  • Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate with individuals at all levels within the organization
  • Strong problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

  • Plans daily maintenance duties, including analyzing work requests, developing work order-based job plans, and managing the work order backlog.
  • Prioritizes corrective and project work orders for planning and scheduling.
  • Identifies materials, special tools, or equipment needed to maximize technician wrench time.
  • Estimates the cost of each work order in terms of direct labor, materials, and total cost.
  • Compiles equipment information into job packages for technicians, clearly communicating critical steps.
  • Plans all maintenance work, estimates time and resources, and schedules planned jobs.
  • Plans for impending maintenance needs and runs the Preventative Maintenance program.
  • Works with Plant Engineering teams to support equipment reliability and mechanical integrity programs.
  • Oversees plant preventative maintenance (PM) and predictive maintenance (PdM) programs.
  • Identifies the scope and analysis of required level of planning and overall scheduling of maintenance activities.
  • Tracks and reports on appropriate metrics to monitor and improve maintenance performance and plant reliability.
  • Assists with planning/scheduling effort for major plant turn-around, projects, and equipment overhauls.
  • Manages and replenishes parts inventory, including ordering, receiving, and stocking machine parts.
  • Performs accurate cycle counts to maintain correct inventory levels.
  • Maintains inventories and replenishes maintenance department consumable supplies.
  • Monitors and controls recyclables such as batteries, bulbs, cutting torch tanks, electronics, and other controlled materials.
  • Reviews parts and service proposals to ensure cost-effective value in all purchases.
  • Assumes other duties as assigned.
