About The Position

The primary role of the Maintenance Planner is to improve work force productivity and work quality through prevention of potential delays and obstacles by properly planning and coordinating parts, machine time, and labor. This role serves as the primary liaison between the operations and maintenance organizations for planned work, both during runtime and scheduled downtime. Additionally, this role ensures appropriate files, records, and data are maintained to produce meaningful analysis and reporting of results and work performed.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of maintenance planning and scheduling preferred.
  • Previous experience within a manufacturing environment with multiple crafts (mechanical, electrical, etc.) required.
  • Maintenance scheduling, planning, and use of SAP CMMS or ERP required.
  • Comprehensive experience in vibration data collection and analysis, lubrication and oil analysis, and balancing, and alignment.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Intermediate or better skills in Microsoft Office required.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends and holidays.

Nice To Haves

  • BAS/BSC degree in a related field from an accredited college/university preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the principal contact between the Maintenance department and the operations teams (refinery and packaging).
  • Assure that requested work is necessary and prioritized based on business risk.
  • Ensure safety needs are a top priority in work planning.
  • Recommend equipment for inclusion in preventive maintenance programs.
  • Lead weekly meetings with Operations and Maintenance to discuss short-term and long-term maintenance needs.
  • Receive approved work requests from requesting departments.
  • Review and screen work requests for clarity, discussing details with the requestor as appropriate.
  • Examine requests and determine the best way to accomplish the work, consulting with the requester, Maintenance Supervisor, Engineering, or functional crews when necessary.
  • Obtain blueprints, drawings, instructional manuals, and special procedures as needed, and make any additional sketches or diagrams necessary to clarify the intent of the work order.
  • Arrange for any necessary safety permits, hot work, confined space, etc., as part of a work package.
  • Estimate jobs, including the sequence of steps, the number of tradespersons, and required labor hours for each step.
  • Identify and obtain determinable materials and critical items, entering material needs on the work order.
  • Verify the availability of parts, materials, and special tools required for job execution prior to scheduling.
  • Coordinate the requisition of all predetermined parts, materials, and special tools, and prepare complete kits.
  • Assemble work package documentation and deliver it to area maintenance supervisors.
  • Maintain KPIs for the department, create action plans, and develop processes for continuous improvement/development.
  • Maintain backlog files of work orders awaiting planning and/or scheduling in accordance with their priorities and an estimated completion date.
  • Ensure completed schedules and work orders are returned and reviewed in a timely manner.
  • Monitor work order progress, compliance, and schedule.
  • Evaluate performance metrics and develop action plans.
  • Provide all documents for reporting and closeout.
  • Develop a file of standard job plans for regularly recurring repair jobs.
  • Review the actual labor expended and material consumed versus estimated labor and material for completed jobs with Maintenance Supervisors and provide variance reports to stakeholders.
  • Provide supervision of the maintenance team at times.
  • Coordinate contractor service efforts for planned activities.
