Responsibilities

  • Review and screen work requests for clarity, correct asset and location, duplication, priority, work type, and planning requirements.
  • Conduct field walkdowns to verify scope, equipment condition, access, operating constraints, downtime needs, safety requirements, and the appropriate repair method.
  • Develop standardized, step-by-step job plans containing labor, skills, crew size, duration, parts, materials, tools, contractors, permits, procedures, drawings, safety controls, cost information, and completion criteria.
  • Apply precision maintenance requirements, including alignment, balancing, torque, lubrication, cleanliness, calibration, measurement, and tolerances where applicable.
  • Identify, reserve, order, kit, and stage required parts and materials; coordinate special tools, rental equipment, contractors, and external services.
  • Maintain a prioritized, risk-based backlog with accurate status, constraints, ownership, aging, target dates, and next actions.
  • Confirm that work meets the ready-to-schedule standard for scope, safety, labor, parts, tools, access, downtime, completion criteria, and feedback requirements.
  • Build the proposed weekly schedule from fully planned work and load it against available labor by craft and skill, PM/PdM commitments, production windows, absences, and contractor availability.
  • Coordinate the weekly work-management cadence, including backlog screening, detailed planning, parts review, prioritization, schedule freeze, kitting, handoff, and daily blocker review.
  • Use JDE as the work-order, asset, costing, labor, material, and history system of record; use MaintainX for technician-ready procedures, checklists, photos, field information, and mobile execution according to site governance.
  • Review completed work orders for actual labor, parts used, completion notes, cause information, photos, follow-up needs, and lessons learned before closure.
  • Participate in RCA, RCM, PM optimization, bad-actor review, OEE improvement, defect elimination, equipment criticality, and other reliability initiatives.
  • Monitor and communicate planning coverage, schedule loading, schedule compliance, emergency work, PM compliance, ready backlog, backlog aging, parts readiness, rework, and closure quality.
  • Maintain clear role boundaries: the Planner prepares and coordinates work; the Maintenance Supervisor assigns technicians and controls daily execution.
