About The Position

The Maintenance Planner reports to the Maintenance Manager and is responsible for developing safe, executable, cost-effective, and high-quality maintenance work plans for the Edmonton Net Zero Hydrogen and Energy Complex (ENZHEC). Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Journeyperson trade certification, engineering technology diploma, technical diploma, or equivalent industrial maintenance experience.
  • Formal maintenance planning and scheduling training, SAP PM/CMMS training, or equivalent demonstrated capability.
  • Mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, rotating equipment, industrial gas, petrochemical, refining, power generation, carbon capture, or related process plant background.
  • Minimum 15 years of maintenance planning, maintenance coordination, craft, supervision, reliability, or related industrial experience.
  • Experience in highly hazardous process industries such as hydrogen, industrial gases, petrochemical, refining, power generation, carbon capture, or utilities operations.
  • Experience using SAP PM and planning tools such as Primavera P6.
  • Experience supporting contractor-heavy maintenance execution models.
  • Strong maintenance planning and scheduling expertise.
  • Strong understanding of permit-to-work and industrial safety processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, equipment drawings, specifications, procedures, and vendor manuals.
  • SAP PM expertise including notifications, work orders, task lists, maintenance plans, BOMs, and history management.
  • Strong materials management and spare parts planning knowledge.
  • Contractor scope development and management skills.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
  • Familiarity with Primavera P6, MS Project, or equivalent planning tools.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management capability.
  • Excellent organizational, prioritization, and multitasking skills.

  • The incumbent is required to comply with all Air Products Alcohol and Drug Policy requirements applicable to Safety Sensitive Positions, including pre-employment, post-incident, reasonable-cause, return-to-duty, follow-up, and any other testing permitted by applicable legislation and company policy.

  • Experience in greenfield commissioning, startup, asset data validation, or preventive maintenance development is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures adherence to Air Products occupational safety, process safety, environmental, quality, and maintenance standards, procedures, and work practices.
  • Plans scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities to support safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of ENZHEC assets.
  • Screens, scopes, and plans approved corrective, preventive, predictive, regulatory, and improvement work orders in SAP PM/CMMS.
  • Develops complete maintenance work packages including job plans, labour estimates, material requirements, drawings, vendor documentation, procedures, permits, and safety requirements.
  • Maintains a disciplined planned maintenance backlog including priorities, readiness status, material availability, and schedule risks.
  • Supports the rolling four-week maintenance schedule by ensuring all planned work is execution-ready.
  • Coordinates with Operations regarding equipment availability, lockout requirements, production priorities, and maintenance windows.
  • Coordinates with Warehouse, Supply Chain, contractors, and vendors to ensure material and service availability.
  • Creates and maintains equipment BOMs, task lists, standard job plans, and planning templates within SAP PM.
  • Supports spare parts optimization and materials management processes.
  • Participates in planning meetings, scheduling meetings, shutdown planning meetings, contractor coordination meetings, and risk reviews.
  • Supports turnaround (TAR), outage, and major shutdown planning activities.
  • Reviews completed work orders and updates planning standards and historical records based on lessons learned.
  • Tracks and communicates planning performance metrics.
  • Supports root cause analyses (RCA), bad actor reviews, and maintenance strategy improvements.
  • Supports Management of Change (MOC), HAZOP, JSA, and project handovers as required.
  • Supports commissioning, start-up, and early-life reliability activities.
  • Develops maintenance contractor work scopes and execution packages.
