About The Position

As a Maintenance Planner, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of a highly technical industrial facility. This position is responsible for planning, scheduling, coordinating, and optimizing maintenance activities that maximize equipment availability, improve asset reliability, reduce downtime, and support uninterrupted plant operations. Working closely with maintenance, operations, engineering, and site leadership teams, you will help drive operational excellence while supporting a culture focused on safety, reliability, continuous improvement, and long-term asset performance. This is an excellent opportunity for a maintenance professional who enjoys solving complex equipment challenges, improving maintenance effectiveness, and directly contributing to plant performance. The successful candidate will gain exposure to preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs, outage planning, reliability initiatives, capital project support, and asset management strategies. This role serves as a key contributor to equipment reliability, outage planning, asset management, and long-term maintenance strategy while providing a pathway to broader maintenance, reliability, and operations leadership opportunities. Reporting to site maintenance leadership, the Maintenance Planner is responsible for developing and managing maintenance plans, work schedules, outage activities, inspection programs, and reliability initiatives across the facility. Utilizing PeopleSoft as the primary Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), this individual serves as a key liaison between maintenance technicians, contractors, operations personnel, engineering resources, and plant leadership to ensure maintenance priorities align with operational goals, safety requirements, environmental compliance standards, reliability objectives, and production targets.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in maintenance planning, maintenance coordination, reliability support, maintenance supervision, or related maintenance roles within a manufacturing, industrial, utility, energy, waste-to-energy, power generation, chemical processing, pulp and paper, resource recovery, or continuous-process industrial environment.
  • Experience supporting plant outages, shutdowns, turnarounds, major maintenance projects, capital projects, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong organizational, planning, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, instrumentation, and industrial process systems.
  • Experience utilizing Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for work order management, maintenance planning, scheduling, asset management, and reliability tracking.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects, balance competing priorities, and manage resources effectively in a dynamic operating environment.
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across maintenance, operations, engineering, contractors, suppliers, and leadership teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project.
  • Experience analyzing maintenance data, equipment history, reliability metrics, failure trends, and performance information to support maintenance planning and asset reliability objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to support asset reliability programs, maintenance excellence initiatives, and long-term equipment performance improvement strategies.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with PeopleSoft preferred.
  • Experience with SAP, Maximo, Oracle, Infor, or similar ERP/CMMS platforms will also be considered.
  • Experience within power generation, waste-to-energy, resource recovery, pulp and paper, chemical processing, manufacturing, industrial utility, or other continuous-process industrial environments is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all maintenance activities are planned and executed in accordance with Reworld safety policies, environmental requirements, industry standards, and applicable regulations.
  • Develop, schedule, and optimize preventive, predictive, corrective, and reliability-focused maintenance work orders using the CMMS system.
  • Prioritize maintenance activities based on equipment criticality, operational requirements, production schedules, resource availability, and business needs.
  • Create, review, track, and close maintenance work orders while ensuring accurate documentation of labor, materials, completed work, equipment history, and maintenance records.
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams to capture detailed work feedback and continuously improve job planning effectiveness.
  • Coordinate maintenance technicians, contractors, tools, equipment, and materials to ensure successful execution of planned work.
  • Work closely with the Storeroom team to ensure required parts and materials are properly identified, staged, and available before work begins.
  • Support the planning and scheduling of capital projects, equipment installations, plant modifications, major repairs, and maintenance shutdown activities.
  • Assist with planned and unplanned outage planning, including manpower requirements, material procurement, contractor coordination, schedules, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Generate detailed work scopes, schedules, and execution plans for major maintenance activities performed during scheduled outages.
  • Evaluate equipment history, maintenance records, condition monitoring data, predictive maintenance results, and performance trends to identify maintenance priorities and improve equipment reliability.
  • Support equipment inspections during planned and forced outages.
  • Develop outage inspection matrices identifying inspection scope, schedules, budgets, resource requirements, and execution strategies.
  • Compile, analyze, and present inspection findings, maintenance metrics, equipment performance data, and reliability information to support maintenance decision-making.
  • Prepare condition assessment reports, executive summaries, and recommendations related to repair, replacement, lifecycle management, and reliability improvement initiatives.
  • Develop, revise, and maintain maintenance standards, specifications, inspection procedures, job plans, and outage work scope requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment reliability, maintenance effectiveness, cost optimization, operational efficiency, and asset performance.
