About The Position

The Painter applies coats of paint, varnish, enamels or lacquer to decorate and protect interior and exterior surfaces, trimmings and fixtures of the hospital. The essential functions include filling cracks, holes, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster or other fillers, then scraping, and sanding, and priming the area prior to painting. Cleans walls to ensure proper adherence and reports any issues to the appropriate plant operations contact. Tapes off areas as needed, follows proper procedures to remove fixtures, and covers surfaces with cloth or plastic to ensure protection. Maintains a safe and clean work area while painting and cleans all equipment used during the project appropriately and in a timely manner. Applies paint, varnish, stains, enamels or lacquer to decorate and protect interior and exterior surfaces, trimmings and fixtures of the hospital, applying second coats and touch-ups as required. Takes conscious ownership for work and takes a proactive, deliberate, and thoughtful approach regarding work activities. Demonstrates appropriate use of independent judgment and decision-making. Demonstrates excellent customer service at all times. Maintains confidentiality in accordance with hospital/corporate policies and HIPAA privacy regulations.

Requirements

  • One year previous experience as a painter
  • Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
  • Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
  • Hospital Fire and Life Safety Card (Los Angeles City Employees only)
