About The Position

The Maintenance Operator is responsible for mowing fairways and roughs with gang units, operating all walk-behind equipment, and understanding all maintenance processes in which they are used. This role involves operating various types of equipment including turf vacs, tractors, skip-loaders, aerifiers, and sprayers. The operator will also assist in fertilizer applications and ensure equipment is properly maintained daily, including refilling fuel and oil and cleaning. Basic preventive maintenance on equipment is also a responsibility, as directed by the equipment manager or assistant superintendent. The position may also involve operating smaller equipment as directed by a supervisor and performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Requires knowledge and proficiency in the use of all golf course maintenance equipment.
  • Must be able to operate golf course maintenance equipment.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs.
  • Must be able to work in the heat for extended periods.
  • Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to interact professionally and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, coworkers and members.
  • Must be able to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Mows fairways and roughs with gang units.
  • Operates all walk behind equipment and is familiar with all maintenance processes in which they are used.
  • Operates all types of equipment; turf vac, tractors, skip-loader, aerifiers, sprayers.
  • May operate smaller equipment as directed by his/her supervisor.
  • Assists in completing fertilizer applications.
  • Ensures that the equipment cooling system is working at all times; refills fuel and oil daily; cleans equipment daily; and reports equipment problems or failures to Equipment Manager immediately.
  • Provides basic preventive maintenance on equipment as directed by equipment manager or assistant superintendent, and returns equipment to the designated location at the maintenance facility.
  • Performs other duties as directed by his/her supervisor
