About The Position

The Maintenance Operations Manager (M2) leads production support, maintenance, and reliability activities within a highly automated Central Fill pharmacy environment. This role is accountable for maximizing equipment uptime, throughput, quality, and on‑time delivery while ensuring compliance with safety, regulatory, and customer service standards. Reporting to site leadership, this role manages multiple supervisory teams across Operations, Maintenance, and IT and partners cross‑functionally to meet business objectives and customer service‑level agreements (SLAs). Success in this role requires strong technical expertise, operational leadership, and the ability to develop high‑performing teams in a 24/7 automated environment.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in automated operations, maintenance, or reliability environments
  • 2+ years of people leadership experience, managing supervisors or technical teams
  • Demonstrated success improving equipment performance, uptime, and operational KPIs
  • Hands‑on knowledge of industrial automation, controls, and maintenance systems

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience in Central Fill pharmacy, healthcare distribution, or automated fulfillment environments
  • Proficiency with CMMS platforms and Microsoft Office; SQL or data‑query experience preferred
  • Experience managing spare‑parts programs and technical documentation
  • Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily production support and maintenance activities to achieve safety, quality, productivity, and cost targets
  • Monitor and drive improvement against key operational KPIs (uptime, throughput, OEE‑type metrics, cost per script, safety)
  • Partner with Operations Supervisors to align staffing, workflow execution, and performance expectations
  • Ensure coordinated handoffs across operations, maintenance, IT, and transportation to meet SLAs
  • Own maintenance strategy and execution for mechanical, electrical, controls, and automation systems, including robotics, conveyors, pneumatics, and packaging equipment
  • Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs to improve reliability and reduce downtime
  • Lead troubleshooting of Allen‑Bradley PLC systems, industrial networks, sensors, and I/O devices
  • Ensure accurate spare‑parts inventory management and cost control
  • Manage vendor relationships, escalations, and service contracts
  • Optimize CMMS utilization for asset management, work orders, and performance reporting
  • Track and improve metrics such as MTBF, MTTR, backlog, PM compliance, and repeat failures
  • Apply structured problem‑solving methodologies (Root Cause Analysis, 5‑Why)
  • Support automation upgrades, system enhancements, and reliability improvement initiatives
  • Lead and develop Operations Supervisors, Maintenance Supervisors, IT leadership, and technical teams
  • Provide clear priorities, coaching, and performance management
  • Enforce LOTO and site safety programs; maintain audit readiness and change control
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Serve as the primary day‑to‑day operational and maintenance contact for the customer
  • Communicate risks, outages, recovery plans, and performance updates with transparency
  • Support customer audits, investigations, and business reviews
