About The Position

This role is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, replacing, and installing plant mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems for all plant equipment. This includes machinery maintenance, lubrication, preventative maintenance (PMs), troubleshooting, repairing, upgrading, welding, fabricating, and possible installations. The position requires the ability to read and understand mechanical prints, AC/DC motors, pneumatic diagrams, and hydraulic diagrams. The candidate will troubleshoot, repair, and install mechanical components, AC/DC motors, pneumatic equipment, hydraulic equipment, bearings, and power transmission. Fabrication of equipment using welding (arc and gas) to meet desired needs is also a key responsibility. Adjustments will be made on equipment to improve productivity, and the employee will identify unusual sounds indicating potential trouble and dismantle equipment to gain access to replace defective parts. Maintaining adequate inventories of spare parts, accurately preparing and maintaining records, and maintaining work areas to plant standards of housekeeping are also expected. Predictive maintenance data collection and PM planning are part of the role. Minimum requirements include passing the Maintenance AON test and an interview. The position requires the ability to work in a team environment, work additional and flexible hours including weekends as needed, and be willing and able to work all shifts depending on company business needs. The employee must possess their own set of tools. This is a safety-sensitive position.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of various types of measurement equipment (dial calipers, heat sensing guns, etc.).
  • Ability to examine and determine to what degree parts have worn, and repair or replace parts as needed.
  • Ability to use hand tools to remove/replace and repair parts in a safe manner.
  • Operation of all types of hand tools (i.e. drill press, grinder, wire brush, acetylene torch, etc.) normally found in a Maintenance shop.
  • Excellent attendance and safety record with a demonstrated ability to follow directions.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to work additional and flexible hours including weekends as needed.
  • Willing and able to work all shifts depending on business needs.
  • Excellent teamwork, cooperation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Dedicated, self-motivated, and self-starter, able to work independently.
  • Flexibility, a positive attitude, and a commitment to working safely.
  • Computer skills to work in SAP to acquire notifications, work orders, requisition parts for work orders, and enter time against work orders.
  • Must pass standardized International Paper pre-employment testing in place for Maintenance positions.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnosing, repairing, replacing, and installing plant mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems for all plant equipment.
  • Performing machinery maintenance, lubrication, PMs, troubleshooting, repairing, upgrading, welding, fabricating, and possible installations.
  • Performing lubrication/preventative maintenance on equipment such as corrugator, diecut, folder, conveyors, stackers, banders etc.
  • Reading and understanding mechanical prints, AC/DC motors, pneumatic diagrams, and hydraulic diagrams.
  • Troubleshooting, repairing, and installing mechanical components, AC/DC motors, pneumatic equipment, hydraulic equipment, bearings, and power transmission.
  • Fabricating equipment (welding both arc and gas) to desired needs.
  • Making adjustments on equipment to improve productivity.
  • Identifying and locating unusual sounds that indicate potential trouble.
  • Dismantling equipment to gain access to replace defective parts.
  • Maintaining adequate inventories of spare parts.
  • Accurately and completely preparing and maintaining records and other paperwork.
  • Maintaining work areas to plant standards of housekeeping.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

  • Passing the Maintenance AON test and an interview.
