About The Position

The Maintenance New Hire will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, replacing, and installing plant mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems for all plant equipment. This includes machinery maintenance, lubrication, preventative maintenance (PMs), troubleshooting, repairing, upgrading, welding, fabricating, and possible installations. The role involves performing lubrication and preventative maintenance on equipment such as corrugators, die-cutters, folders, conveyors, stackers, and banders. The position requires the ability to read and understand mechanical prints, AC/DC motors, pneumatic diagrams, and hydraulic diagrams. Responsibilities also include troubleshooting, repairing, and installing mechanical components, AC/DC motors, pneumatic equipment, hydraulic equipment, bearings, and power transmission. Fabrication of equipment through welding (arc and gas) to meet specific needs, making adjustments to equipment to improve productivity, and identifying unusual sounds indicating potential trouble are key aspects of the job. The role involves dismantling equipment to access and replace defective parts, maintaining adequate inventories of spare parts, and accurately preparing and maintaining records and other paperwork. Maintaining work areas to plant standards of housekeeping and performing other assigned duties are also part of the role. Predictive maintenance data collection and PM planning are included. Minimum requirements include passing the Maintenance AON test and an interview. The position requires the ability to work in a team environment and to work additional and flexible hours, including weekends as needed. Candidates must be willing and able to work all shifts based on company business needs and must possess their own set of tools. This is a safety-sensitive position.

  • Working knowledge of various types of measurement equipment (dial calipers, heat sensing guns, etc.).
  • Ability to examine and determine to what degree parts have worn, and repair or replace parts as needed.
  • Ability to use hand tools to remove/replace and repair parts safely.
  • Ability to operate all types of hand tools (i.e. drill press, grinder, wire brush, acetylene torch, etc.) normally found in a Maintenance shop.
  • Excellent attendance and safety record.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow directions.
  • Excellent teamwork, cooperation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Dedication, self-motivation, and self-starter ability, able to work independently.
  • Flexibility, a positive attitude, and a commitment to working safely.
  • Computer skills to work in SAP to acquire notifications, work orders, requisition parts for work orders, and enter time against work orders.

  • Successful candidate must pass standardized International Paper pre-employment testing in place for Maintenance positions.
