About The Position

The Mechanical Maintenance Technician reports to the Maintenance Supervisor with the responsibility for performing mechanical maintenance on plant equipment at the Resonac Graphite America electrode manufacturing facility.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2-year industrial mechanical maintenance program (associate preferred) or equivalent training
  • 5+ years heavy industrial mechanical maintenance experience
  • Hydraulic/pneumatic troubleshooting
  • Read technical drawings
  • Welding and precision measuring
  • Shaft alignment
  • Conveyors, drives, and bearings knowledge
  • Predictive maintenance knowledge
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Basic CMMS/computer skills
  • Climb stairs/ladders and work at heights
  • Bend, kneel, and crouch for extended periods
  • Maintain coordination and dexterity
  • Lift/push/pull up to 50lbs
  • Work in extreme, noisy, dusty, or wet environments
  • Work safely around chemicals and moving equipment
  • Operate mobile equipment and cranes safely
  • Vision: 20/40+ (corrective lenses allowed); color and field of vision as required. Monocular vision requires medical clearance
  • Hearing: 30 dB at 500–2000 Hz (aids allowed); one ear must meet standard. Sent for referral if requirements are not met

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with Company and plant policies, health and safety standards, environmental regulations, hazardous waste, & good housekeeping practices.
  • Perform maintenance tasks and initiate notifications to correct equipment deficiencies.
  • Initiate purchase requisitions as needed to maintain needed tools and equipment.
  • Provide feedback to the Maintenance Planning Department on equipment problems and opportunities for improving maintenance tasks.
  • Assist the Maintenance Planning Department with determining preventive maintenance requirements for new equipment and with updating procedures for existing equipment.
  • Maintain a strong working relationship with Production to ensure equipment abnormalities were identified and corrected.
  • Assist with investigations into major and repetitive equipment failures.
  • Be a self-motivated team player with a strong desire to continuously improve their professional skills.
  • Be on call during certain periods throughout the year.
  • Work shifts, nights, weekends, holidays, etc.
  • Be “On-Call” throughout the year at specified times.
