About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining mechanical devices and equipment to ensure smooth production processes. This role involves troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on machinery. The mechanic will also be responsible for managing inventory, documenting work, and adhering to safety and food safety regulations. This is an hourly position with a B Level classification, and advancement opportunities are available after one year in the role.

Requirements

Ability to communicate with others orally.
Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
Ability to complete daily task without assistance.
Ability to initiate trouble shooting skills to improve the process and/or make repairs.
Basic electrical skills (learning the use of a multimeter).
Working understanding of food safety requirements as outlined in BRC, SQF and USDA.
Must follow all safety regulations required by Company and OSHA.
Must observe and learn process of production and equipment knowledge.

Responsibilities

Follow all safety regulations required by Company and OSHA.
Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation, listening for problems, and using precision measuring and testing instruments.
Observe and learn the process of production and equipment knowledge.
Complete daily tasks without assistance.
Initiate troubleshooting skills to improve the process and/or make repairs.
Remove defective parts by dismantling devices using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools, and examining the form and texture of parts.
Determine changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts using rulers, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
Control downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques and monitoring compliance.
Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing technical publications, and establishing personal networks.
Maintain equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level and anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies.
Conserve maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
Apply basic electrical skills, including learning the use of a multimeter.
Maintain continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
Have a working understanding of food safety requirements as outlined in BRC, SQF and USDA.
Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Fill out Daily Maintenance Form.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Work from heights with equipment such as boom lift, scissor lift, or ladder.
