About The Position
The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining all machinery involved in the production of products in proper working order. This role requires the knowledge and ability to repair, design, adjust, or modify any mechanical equipment or structure as needed for daily operations. The position also involves writing and troubleshooting programs for Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and maintaining the plant's electrical distribution system. Responsibilities include ensuring production continuity, maintaining plant structure, good housekeeping of the work area, and proper handling of hazardous waste according to ADEM requirements. The role also requires adherence to the plant's safety policy and ISO 14001 standards, with the authority to stop any unsafe activity.
Requirements
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Technical school training or equivalent (to include electronic and PLCs).
- Five or more years of experience in maintenance.
- Minimum of two years of experience in design, wiring, and troubleshooting of PLCs.
- Proficient in basic welding, use of shop equipment, piping, and sheet metal fabrication.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, diagrams, schematics, prints, technical manuals, and manufacturer’s specifications.
- Knowledge of plant electrical distribution system.
- Experience in installation and troubleshooting electrical components.

Responsibilities

- Responsible for proper handling and disposing of hazardous waste within ADEM requirements.
- Provide support as requested by supervisor.
- Initiate action to prevent a violation of the Federal-Mogul Integrity Policy.
