About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing various equipment and systems within a manufacturing facility. This includes electrical systems, motors, boilers, HVAC equipment, and production machinery. The role requires performing both planned and unplanned maintenance, responding to emergency repairs, and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of all machinery and utility systems. Adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices, safety protocols, and food safety standards is crucial.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED minimum.
  • 2 years minimum experience in a maintenance role within a manufacturing facility, preferably food industry.
  • 1-year minimum experience with one or more technical experiences: Electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic, computer-controlled equipment, PLC and HVAC.
  • Ability to inspect equipment, recognize potential problems and independently take appropriate corrective action to prevent component failures or equipment down time.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, kneel, and bend required for virtually the entire shift.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Must be able to work in a cold environment.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
  • Be able to effectively work in a team environment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • PLC experience preferred.
  • Bi-lingual Spanish a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair circuits running on 24 - 480 Volt Panels.
  • Perform electrical repairs such as outlets, switches, plugs, and disconnects.
  • Run conduit and pull circuit wiring.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and install single and three-phase motors and associated mechanical transmission equipment.
  • Perform small motor and pump repairs.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot fire tube boilers and associated HVAC equipment.
  • Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing maintenance requirements (both planned and unplanned) on production, packaging, processing equipment, and utility systems.
  • Be readily available for emergency repairs in breakdown situations.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, including computerized check-ups and reading SPC charts and data.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe work area.
  • Follow all required work safe practices, including lockout-tagout, wearing required PPE, confined space safety, and safe chemical handling.
  • Be responsible for food safety, pre-requisite programs, and food quality related to the designated area.
  • Report any food safety and food quality related issues to management immediately.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
