About The Position

Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for a Maintenance Mechanic, on 2nd shift at our Lakeland, FL manufacturing plant. This position is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, installing, or replacing mechanical equipment or mechanical, electrical and electro-mechanical devices and components. Carpenter Co. employees are committed to working hard to ensure production goals are met while maintaining operations excellence. The successful candidate will be expected to effectively communicate with machine operators, and plant management to troubleshoot, identify and coordinate mechanical repairs on very involved and complex machinery. This position also operates in a normal maintenance and manufacturing environment with exposure to temperature changes.

Requirements

  • High school or GED required.
  • 2-3 years of prior Mechanic experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Good communication and advanced math skills.
  • Ability to earn a Carpenter Co. Forklift Certification
  • Ability to safely operate a genie boom, and scissor lift.
  • Must possess a variety of personally owned industrial/electrical hand tools.
  • Computer Literate; Fluent in the use of Machine Control Interfaces (HMI / Touch Screens)

Nice To Haves

  • 2 to 3 years of specialty or technical training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and disassemble manufacturing equipment.
  • Read and interpret basic machine diagrams and plant layout drawings.
  • Interpret complicated drawings, using advanced shop math and handbook formulas.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on assigned machinery and/or equipment.
  • Identifying potential mechanical problems, planning a solution for repair, and implementing the plan.
  • Assemble/install, troubleshoot and maintain pneumatic, hydraulic and power transfer systems, motors, pumps, filters, air compressors, electrical control devices, and chillers.
  • Maintaining conveyor systems and components, belts, bearing, sprockets, and gear reducers.
  • Assist with the calibration of in-plant electrical equipment.
  • Timely communication of potential problems and/or issues affecting plant performance to management
  • Performing basic plumbing on machinery and/or equipment.
  • Communicate, accept input, and follow instructions from Mechanic/Electrician A or Lead Person.
  • Maintain plant fire system.
  • Serve on plant emergency response team.
