About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing maintenance needs required for daily operations to keep the facility running efficiently. This role involves researching and submitting requests for parts, equipment, and tools, and being proactive in resolving quality process failures. The mechanic will also suggest ideas to support continuous improvement, communicate effectively between shifts in the Engineering/Maintenance Department and with Manufacturing, and assist in training new employees on safe work practices. Adherence to rules and regulations set by ProAmpac, MIOSHA, and AIB/Product Safety Program guidelines is mandatory. Maintaining a clean and safe work environment suitable for the food packaging industry is also a key responsibility.

Requirements

  • Machine Repair or Millwright Journeyman’s card or documented experience (8,000 hours).
  • Thorough knowledge of machine tool operation, i.e., mill, lathe, drill press, grinder, miscellaneous hand tools.
  • Knowledge of measuring tools such as micrometers (inside and outside), dial calipers, different types of indicators, and measuring devices in both inch and metric.
  • Ability to read blueprints and perform tasks such as PM’s, pipefitting, fabricating, all types of welding (MIG, TIG, Wire, Stick) and use of oxygen/acetylene torches.
  • Physical ability to work from a ladder or platform, lift a maximum of 90 pounds, and see clearly at twenty inches or less.
  • Ability to work in the following conditions: high noise levels, solvent fumes common in the printing industry, and medium heat.

  • Abide by rules, regulations and guidelines set by ProAmpac, the State of Michigan (MIOSHA), and follow the AIB/Product Safety Program guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment suitable for the food packaging industry.
