About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic performs general maintenance and specialized maintenance required by a specific trade discipline. This role involves providing exceptional customer service to residents, employees, and vendors, and interacting with residents in a positive, respectful, and reassuring manner while performing duties. The position requires experience in various building maintenance areas, the ability to plan and prioritize work, and to collaborate effectively within the Maintenance department and with other departments. Maintaining an orderly, clean, and safe work area, proper use of equipment and supplies, and understanding universal precautions are also key aspects of the role. The mechanic will work with blueprints and drawings, assist with snow removal, help cover the on-call schedule, and perform other duties as assigned by the Facility Operations Manager.

Requirements

  • High School or equivalent.
  • Vocational technical graduate.
  • At least two years in a trade or four years of building maintenance.
  • Valid State of Connecticut driver's license.
  • Able to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Able to process written documentation.
  • Able to handle multiple tasks.
  • Able to handle the physical demands of the position.
  • Experience and job knowledge in all areas of building maintenance, i.e., carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, drywall and painting.

  • Keep work area orderly, clean and safe. Ensure proper care in the use of equipment and supplies.
  • Understand and follow universal precautions for personal safety and chemicals as it pertains to the Department.
  • Work with/from blueprints and drawings.
  • Assist in the snow removal process.
  • Help cover the on-call schedule.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the Facility Operations Manager.
