About The Position

This role involves inspecting, repairing, replacing, installing, adjusting, and maintaining all mechanical equipment involved in manufacturing. The position requires working safely, following all safety rules and documents, and wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The mechanic will demonstrate the ability to repair industrial equipment using mechanical skills, welding, troubleshooting, and various hand and industrial tools. They must be able to read and understand mechanical drawings, hydraulic schematics, and sketches, and use precision tools for measurement and calibration.

Requirements

  • Work in a Safe manner, follow safety rules and documents and wear required PPE.
  • Demonstrate the ability to repair Industrial equipment using mechanical skills, welding, troubleshooting, using hand and industrial tools.
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings, hydraulic schematics, sketches.
  • Ability to use precision tools to measure and calibrate equipment and tools.
  • Knowledge of drill press, power and hand tools, burning and welding equipment, internal combustion engines, grinder, lift trucks, cranes, man lifts.
  • Knowledge of fabricating.
  • Knowledge of plant mechanical equipment, repair parts, lubricants, hardware, packing, wrought steel, hydraulic fittings, hydraulic hoses, tubing and piping.
  • Knowledge of welding (stick and MIG) and burning (acetylene and plasma cutting).
  • Knowledge of hydraulic repair and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of fabrication from prints.
  • Knowledge of pneumatic repair and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of general machine repair and blueprint reading.
  • Knowledge of combustion repair.
  • Knowledge of refractory repair.
  • Knowledge of pipe fitting.
  • Knowledge of heavy rigging.
  • Walking or standing 80% of the shift.
  • Some lifting, bending, pulling, and pushing required.
  • Work in an Industrial Mill Environment.
  • Work in hot and cold environment.
  • Must be able to wear all required PPE.
  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma.
  • Technical school in related field or Minimum of 5 years on the job experience.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Must be able to operate mobile equipment including but not limited to forklifts and cranes.
  • Ability to organize material on machines as scheduled.
  • Must be able to work mandatory overtime as needed.
  • Must be able to work multiple shifts as needed.
  • Read micrometers, calipers and other measurement devices.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Basic computer skills.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of manufacturing experience preferred
