About The Position

This position is located at Foothills Correctional Institution in Morganton, Burke County, NC. Foothills Correctional Institution is a close/minimum custody Male facility housing 712 single cells. This position is located in the Maintenance Department and is responsible for performing preventive and routine corrective maintenance tasks and ensuring that assigned systems, equipment and facilities are maintained in a safe and efficient manner. Position reports to the facility Maintenance Supervisor.

Requirements

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two (2) years of progressive experience in the assigned trade areas; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
May require current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations Part 82, Subpart F.

Responsibilities

Supervise staff and oversee offender work assignments to ensure productivity and compliance
Plan, coordinate, and manage projects, including task delegation and meeting established deadlines
Ensure completion of preventative and corrective maintenance tasks in a safe, timely, and efficient manner
Interpret and work from blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
Operate and maintain a variety of tools, machinery, and equipment
Remain available for on-call duties and respond to after-hours maintenance needs
