About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic III works in Facilities at St. Vincent's Riverside Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida, on the evening shift. The role diagnoses, maintains, and repairs complex utility systems and a wide range of facility equipment. It also performs varied skilled trades work, supports regulatory compliance and safety activities, and leads special projects, orientations, and employee training.

Requirements

• Meet one or more of the following: graduate of a trade school and 3 years of experience; 5 years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant education or experience.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, maintain, and repair complex utility systems, including central steam, chemical water treatment, boilers, and industrial air conditioning and compressor systems.
• Troubleshoot, service, and install equipment, including electric motors, pumps, commercial and laboratory appliances, and facility motor vehicles.
• Use specialized hand and power tools, welding torches, and fabrication equipment to perform electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, and pipe-fitting work across the facility.
• Support compliance with local, state, federal, and Joint Commission standards by conducting safety audits and drills and managing official regulatory documentation.
• Lead special projects and coordinate department orientations.
• Conduct employee safety training.
• Serve as the internal subject matter expert on healthcare facility maintenance and life safety codes.
