About The Position

McCormick is seeking to hire a Maintenance Mechanic III - 2nd Shift immediately in South Bend, Indiana. Under the general supervision of the Maintenance Team Manager, the incumbent will respond to support calls on production/process equipment and utility breakdowns. This will include diagnosing and repairing both mechanical and electrical service calls. This role will also serve as an advanced troubleshooting resource helping the operations team with setup and equipment related issues.

Requirements

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Detail oriented with strong interpersonal, communication and team-based skills.
  • Self-starter and problem-solver.
  • Three to Five years of plant maintenance experience.
  • Ability to troubleshoot PLC/Solid State control instruments.
  • Proficient in the use of test equipment such as multimeters.
  • Working knowledge of Windows.
  • Working knowledge and field experience with process/programmable controllers and AC/DC drives.
  • Industrial control wiring experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret instrument drawings and control schematics.
  • Knowledge of NEC requirements.
  • Must be able to work in cross functional teams.
  • Excellent on-site attendance.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of SAP or similar CMMS.
  • AA degree in Industrial Electronics/Electrical Engineering Technology or completion of an approved apprenticeship in industrial electrical maintenance or 5-7 years direct applicable experience.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to support calls on production/process equipment and utility breakdowns.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical service calls including motor starters, photo eyes, proxes, encoders, limit switches etc.
  • Serve as an advanced troubleshooting resource helping the operations team with setup and equipment related issues.
  • Assist operators and other mechanics with basic duties and change-overs.
  • Complete Winpak conversions.
  • Support, troubleshoot, and repair general production equipment.
  • Perform Waste Water checks and recover Waste Water system from out of tolerance events.
  • Complete assigned PM's and minor work orders; write and close out work orders.
  • Read and understand blueprints and other technical documents to locate part numbers, diagnose equipment failures, and repair equipment.
  • Assist with training employees to identify basic mechanical issues and repair as necessary.
  • Operate CMMS system to locate, check out parts, and complete PM's.
  • Lubricate equipment as needed.
  • Complete Maintenance 5 Standards and Maintenance Log.
  • Replace mechanical components of drive system motors, drives, sprockets, chains, belts, pulleys, bearings, and other various devices.
  • Troubleshoot HVAC systems.
  • Replace air, product, hydraulic, and boiler piping system components.
  • Complete Root Cause Failure Analysis on failed components / parts.
