About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic II is responsible for performing maintenance work throughout the plant to repair production machines, fabricate parts, and rebuild equipment. This role involves diagnosing and troubleshooting equipment problems, and dismantling, repairing, and reassembling complex equipment. The position also includes operating production equipment to check work, cleaning and lubricating equipment, and performing building maintenance tasks such as landscaping, snow removal, and exterior building upkeep. Additionally, the role involves maintaining and repairing office areas, assisting with janitorial duties, and supporting the installation of new equipment. The mechanic will complete routine paperwork, initiate purchase order requests, and ensure compliance with safety and GMP requirements.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or two to five years related experience and/or training (electrical, machine shop, machine troubleshooting, pneumatics, hydraulics, OSHA standards, lock-out/tag-out, etc.); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • General knowledge of electric, welding and machine shop required.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to coworkers and supervisors.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Good problem solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; ascend and/or descend stairs; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Regularly lift, move (in some cases drag items), slide, raise and/or place up to 10 lbs. from ground level and hold weight overhead; return weight to starting position.
  • Tighten and/or loosen a standard torque wrench up to 50 ft./lbs.
  • Lift up to 33 lbs. from 5 inches off ground and raise to 47 inches and then return 33 lbs. to original position.
  • Lift up to 60 lbs. from 31-inch shelf and 2-hand carry for up to 5 ft. and then return 60 lbs. to 31-inch surface.

Responsibilities

  • Completes routine paperwork and initiates purchase order request forms for parts and supplies.
  • Complies with safety and GMP requirements.
  • Supports a culture of safe production and operations by following all safety rules and procedures.
  • Actively participates in the safety program by engaging in training, reporting safety concerns, submitting suggestions, and correcting or reporting hazards.
  • Assists with communicating safety information to new employees.
  • Fulfills responsibilities as outlined in the company safety management plan.
