About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic I performs basic preventative maintenance on machinery, equipment, tools, and buildings, and assists other Maintenance Department members with machine and building repairs. The role includes maintaining records, following safety and hazardous-material procedures when applicable, and supporting department programs and meetings.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• At least 1 year of experience in machine repair in maintenance.
• Working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and control technology, and welding.
• Working knowledge of safe equipment practices and applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
• Working knowledge of hazardous waste and hazardous material handling procedures and practices.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Perform regular preventative maintenance on machinery, equipment, tools, and buildings.
• Assist with repairs to woodworking machinery, infeed/outfeed systems, hand tools, and forklifts, following diagrams, operating manuals, and manufacturer specifications.
• Order supplies and parts as required.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance.
• Maintain records of repair and maintenance activities.
• Follow established safety rules and procedures.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Participate in safety, continuous improvement (CI), and other programs and meetings.
• If assigned to the Treating Department, follow hazardous waste and hazardous material handling procedures and practices.
• Prepare reports as required.
• Perform other duties as required.
