About The Position

Under the general direction of the Group Leader and/or direct supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Mechanic performs building maintenance and repairs on kitchen equipment, refrigeration, and air-conditioning units. The role also provides general mechanical services for hospital machinery and completes skilled or semi-skilled maintenance work across multiple trades. The mechanic helps estimate project labor and materials, prepare purchase requisitions, compare vendor pricing, and monitor project costs.

Requirements

• High school, trade school, or equivalent education.
• 2–3 years of experience in a specialized field.

Responsibilities

• Provide general mechanical services to repair hospital machinery.
• Perform building maintenance and repair tasks of a skilled or semi-skilled nature.
• Comprehend construction drawings and prints.
• Help keep the departmental filing system organized.
• Estimate labor hours and materials for project work and assist Engineering Supervisors with finalizing project cost estimates.
• Complete purchase requisitions for materials, identify the area to which materials should be allocated, contact vendors for pricing, and research cost-effective options.
• Track project labor and material costs to help ensure projects stay within estimate.
• Perform skilled or semi-skilled carpentry, plumbing, electrical, locksmith, HVAC, and painting work.
• Perform other duties as required.
