About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic I is responsible for the repair and preventative maintenance of all refrigeration systems, HVAC systems, boilers, air compressors, condensers systems, and waste-water treatment system. This role requires a strong understanding of refrigeration advanced 2-stage design concepts and the ability to read and follow basic and advanced drawings and schematics. The position also involves providing training to other Utility team members, utilizing construction and fabrication skills, and ensuring the mechanical integrity of the ammonia system per RMP/PSM guidance. The Maintenance Mechanic I is expected to be actively involved in all elements of the PSM/RMP programs, be an active member of the emergency response team, and complete daily shift record keeping and reporting. Requirements

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Aptitude for automated mechanical processes with good troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, math and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work multiple shifts and/or schedules.
  • High School diploma or GED or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of “Best Safety Practices” and comply with all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Troubleshoot unsafe conditions and take appropriate levels of corrective action, ensuring human safety is never compromised.
  • Utilize daily forklift safety checklist.
  • Demonstrate superior knowledge of all quality systems and comply with Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Complete and document all product quality and food safety checks as required by the plant HACCP and MCP programs.
  • Actively participate in preventing and correcting potential quality related issues and food safety investigations.
  • Perform repairs and preventative maintenance of all the Refrigeration systems, HVAC systems, boilers, air compressors, condensers systems, and waste-water treatment system.
  • Inspect equipment and perform daily rounds to ensure compliance with PSM and RMP policies.
  • Understand refrigeration advanced 2-stage design concepts and the typical refrigeration cycle.
  • Perform routine and breakdown maintenance of boilers, air compressors, condensers systems, and waste-water treatment system.
  • Knowledge of ammonia control valves and related piping as needed for safe service and repair.
  • Read and follow basic and advanced drawings and schematics.
  • Provide informal and formal training for other Utility team members as required.
  • Utilize construction and fabrication skills.
  • Ensure PMs are completed in a timely manner and maintain mechanical integrity of the ammonia system per RMP/PSM guidance.
  • Develop corrective work orders as needed.
  • Be actively involved in all of the elements of the PSM/RMP programs.
  • Active member of the emergency response team.
  • Complete daily shift record keeping and reporting as required.
