The Maintenance Mechanic I is responsible for performing duties to set up, repair, and maintain press line equipment. This role involves working from blueprints, manuals, schedules, and instructions to maintain equipment such as punch presses, conveyor systems, component liners, curlers, and automatic tape machines. The mechanic will set tooling, make equipment adjustments, operate equipment, run sample units, and make necessary operating adjustments. Additionally, the role includes instructing and assisting operators, troubleshooting and repairing equipment, diagnosing problems, disassembling, determining repair needs, obtaining parts, assembling, testing, and making repairs. Maintenance of equipment, including cleaning, lubricating, and maintaining automatic lube systems, is also a key function. The mechanic will monitor press line operations, check the quality of produced units, and fill out required maintenance records. Additional responsibilities include notifying supervisors of unusual problems, assisting operators during breaks, using precision measuring instruments and various tools, and adhering to safety rules and maintaining a clean work area. This is a skilled specialist position that requires resourcefulness, effectiveness, considerable judgment, and initiative, with the ability to understand implications and make recommendations.
