The Maintenance Mechanic performs a variety of mechanical maintenance and construction activities, including repair and maintenance of manufacturing machines. Requirements

  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) or;
  • 1- 2 years of related experience preferably in a manufacturing environment; basic hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and industrial skills.
  • Certification and or formal training in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance highly desired.
  • Experience and previous training in Lock-out/Tag-out procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of mainframe computer systems and be familiar with Spreadsheet and Word Processing software.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in a one-on-one and small group situation to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to read, interpret manufacturing drawings, blueprints and written instructions.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Knowledge of basic shop math.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to handle and contain problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Analytical – Collects and researches data; uses intuition and experience to complement data; understands work flows and procedures.
  • Technical Skills – Utilize all training provided and refer to manuals when necessary. Working knowledge of manufacturing procedures and functions. Must pay special attention to details and be capable of working under limited supervision. Knowledge of forklift operation and rig heavy equipment. Familiar with Lock-out/Tag-out procedures.
  • Oral Communication – Responsible to communicate to maintenance team members, manufacturing team members, department supervisor/manager(s), contractors, vendors, customers, suppliers, etc. on issues in the areas of safety, quality, production, equipment, process methods, housekeeping, etc. Listens intently to others and seeks clarification.

Responsibilities

  • Performs work based on issued Work Orders, work may include; scheduled preventive maintenance, unscheduled or unforeseen work (machine breakdowns), seeks Supervisor or Lead guidance as necessary to ensure safety at all times.
  • Examines equipment and machinery, troubleshoots as necessary and makes recommendation to Supervisor or Lead concerning corrective repairs.
  • Takes a proactive role in identifying malfunctions or repairs to ensure optimal safety and efficiency.
  • Always performs work with the utmost safety in mind; wears appropriate PPE for the job and follows all safety rules, especially those involving lock out/tag out, powered industrial vehicles, confined spaces, and electrical equipment.
  • Performs arc welding, gas welding, cutting and brazing.
  • Uses a variety of tools to perform duties including but not limited to; voltage tester, ammeter, megger, hand tools, and power tools in a safe and proficient manner.
  • Assists in all areas of new construction and remodeling of the facility.
  • Operates powered industrial vehicles to move parts and machines.
  • Reports any safety violation, machining equipment misusage and/or improperly performed work to supervisor or lead.
  • Follow all 5S department procedures which include but are not limited to; keeping floors clean of oil and debris, returning tools to proper locations, organize part pans, and performs other housekeeping duties.
  • All employees are responsible for complying with the rules and regulations set forth by Federal, Local, and State government, LISI Aerospace, and HSE Procedures.
  • All employees are responsible for attending all training provided and for adhering to all HSE procedures, policies, and plans, conforming to reporting requirements, and safe operating procedures at all times.
  • Continually seek opportunities to improve our HSE performance by establishing objectives and targets, measuring progress, and reporting our results.
  • May assist and/or suggests waste elimination initiatives specifically related to the function and department such as opportunities to elimination of production material recycle and waste opportunities.
  • Supports other general maintenance activities as assigned.
