About The Position

As a trainee, this position assists mechanics in repairing, overhauling, installing, testing, and inspecting mechanical and electro-mechanical equipment used in pumping stations and treatment plants. The role involves assisting in preventive and predictive maintenance on equipment, buildings, and grounds, as well as identifying equipment deficiencies and performing diagnostic testing. The individual will study maintenance training materials and manuals, clean equipment and facilities, and prepare maintenance records. A key aspect of this role is maintaining a clean, safe work area and working safely, while also meeting the requirements of the training program as set forth by the "Mechanical Maintenance Training Program Policy and Procedure Manual". Additional responsibilities include performing related work as required or delegated by a supervisor.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school, equivalent or vocational school.
  • Ability to attain a passing grade on a written test of related skills/aptitude.
  • Some knowledge of tools and their uses.
  • Some understanding of the operating principles and mechanics of internal combustion engines, pumps, electric motors, etc.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to read, comprehend and pass exams associated with the maintenance training program materials and manuals.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license issued by the state in which the employee resides.
  • Must pass a Non-D.O.T. Drug Test for this position (safety sensitive designation).
  • Employees of MSD must have a meets expectations performance record.
