About The Position

The Oswego County Energy Recovery Facility has an immediate need for a Maintenance Mechanic "B" to perform mechanical work on a shift involving a variety of mechanical, hydraulic and electro-mechanical installation, repair and maintenance tasks on energy recovery plant and related equipment. The incumbent works under direction and supervision of the Chief Maintenance Mechanic or Shift Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in engineering technology or a closely related field; OR Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma and one (1) year of experience in the installation, repair and/or maintenance of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, high-pressure steam equipment and related controls and instrumentation, or in position performing structural, fabrication, or repair welding; OR Possession of Certificate of completion from a Union-Company Sponsored Apprentice Program requiring at least 8,000 hours of on-the-job training.
  • Completion of an equipment maintenance course may be substituted for up to a year of depending on length and type of training.
  • Eligibility for a New York State driver's license may be required.
  • Ability to use a respirator must be maintained throughout the course of employment.
