About The Position

Repairs and maintains plant equipment as assigned, including electric and gas welding, hydraulics, rigging, pipe fitting, pumps, air compressors, vacuum pumps, bearings and seals, power transmissions, gear boxes, equipment settings and alignment. The primary purpose of this role is installing, maintaining, upgrading, and fabricating machinery and equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, and other drawings in an industrial establishment. This position is subject to shift work and requires the ability to work with a minimum of supervision. A written test will be given as part of the company’s evaluation of aptitude for the job. All work described above is to be done in an efficient and workman-like manner. This position is subject to duties as assigned.

Requirements

Must have a minimum set of hand tools as specified by the Company.
Minimum of four years of experience as a millwright.
Experience in industrial construction and/or repair may count.
Must be able to read and understand blueprints and equipment instructions.
Must be able to weld with enough proficiency to pass a Company welding test in both electrical arc and oxygen/acetylene welding.
Must understand the safe handling of welding equipment.
Must be able to determine the correct rod to use on different types of steel and cast iron.
Must be thoroughly familiar with all aspects of safety in the maintenance field.
Must be capable of working with a minimum of supervision.
Must be able to work all shifts.
Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy.
Follow instructions and read blueprints.
Visualize how flat drawings or pictures would look as solid objects.
Work at heights without fear.
Use logical step-by-step procedures at work.

Responsibilities

Repair and maintain plant equipment.
Perform electric and gas welding.
Work with hydraulics, rigging, and pipe fitting.
Maintain pumps, air compressors, vacuum pumps, bearings and seals, power transmissions, and gear boxes.
Perform equipment settings and alignment.
Repair conveyor belts, bucket elevators, crushers, ball mills, and screens.
Read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
Dismantle machinery or equipment using hand tools.
Move machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
Assemble and install equipment, such as shafting, conveyors, and tram rails.
Construct foundations for machines.
Align machines and equipment using various tools.
Assemble machinery and fasten to foundation or other structures.
Operate engine lathe or milling machine to grind, file, and turn machine parts.
Repair and lubricate machinery and equipment.
Select and use appropriate rigging equipment for moving loads.
Attach loads to crane hooks using grappling devices.
Set up, brace, and rig hoisting equipment.
Direct workers engaged in hoisting machinery and equipment.
Perform duties of General Laborer, Skilled Laborer, Carpenter, and possibly electrician.
