Maintenance Manager
About The Position
The Maintenance Manager directs and coordinates activities related to repairing, maintaining, and installing machines, tools, and equipment, as well as maintaining buildings, grounds, and utility systems at a metals service industrial plant. The role may perform these duties personally or through subordinate supervisors. The manager oversees maintenance employees and coordinates maintenance work to support continuous production operations. The position develops preventive maintenance programs, reviews operational and maintenance reports, inspects equipment, and coordinates fabrication or modification of machines to manufacture new products or improve existing products.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in industrial or mechanical engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in a maintenance management position.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Excellent organizational skills to prioritize and execute preventive maintenance plans daily.
- Proven ability to take initiative and establish processes and programs while working.
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines within specified time constraints.
- Ability to adapt in a changing work environment.
- Experience troubleshooting and installing 480/220 electric motors.
- Experience troubleshooting pressurized hydraulic pumps, valves, and control systems.
- Experience troubleshooting PC, CNC, and automated control units.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in the metals service centers industry is preferred.
- Experience troubleshooting metalworking equipment is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Review job orders to determine work priorities.
- Schedule repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous production operations.
- Directly supervise maintenance department employees, including interviewing, hiring, training, planning and assigning work, directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws.
- Coordinate workers fabricating or modifying machines to manufacture new products or improve existing products.
- Develop preventive maintenance programs in conjunction with engineering and maintenance staff.
- Review production, quality control, and maintenance reports and statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities.
- Inspect operating machines for conformance with operational standards.
- Requisition tools, equipment, and supplies required for operations.
